Beverly Hills is well known to have fine real estate, swanky stores and fabulous people. The narrator even spills a few celebrities names here and there as if there was some association.
She even noted that when she was driving towards Beverly Hills that the roads were like "butter". It was smooth and more cared for. The people are stereotyped to be snotty and rich. I'm sure Los Angeles' reputation isn't the kindest. They aren't known for being the humblest of people. This story just adds to that speculation. They don't have to work much because of their fortune, so their hobbies are gossiping, and doing it well. Although with such fortune comes a price with the overwhelming amount of robberies and crimes.
Interesting blog. I enjoyed your aspect on the idea of the story The Method. I liked that you gave examples from the story and went into more detail into what you took from the lines in the story. Your statements about the stereotype of Los Angeles and the people there, are very true and I found that comparison very interesting to read about. The story The Method goes well with that stereotype because the greediness of Richard was going to be the downfall of Holly had she gone through with his devious plan. Good job on your blog and again, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI like how Stacey E describes the fabulous Beverly Hills lifestyle, fun in the sun little purse dogs, with dimond necklesses on and manicures for their paws. How all people in Beverliy Hills are either celebritys or are best friends with one. Who shop in high end stores, and are very snooty and think ther shit does not stink, and that they are better than everybody else!
ReplyDeleteI also liked how Stacey says " that even when she was driving towards Beverliy Hills that the roads were like butter. She is saying that even the roads in Beverly Hills are maintained smoother and nicer than everywere else, just like the people that live there. How the Beverly Hills crowd trys to stereotype everyone else, but in all actuality its the rest of the world stereotyping them.
